History of Vance Cabinet & Carpentry

Vance Cabinet & Carpentry was founded in 1968 by a then 33 year old carpenter named Richard Vance in Pepperell, Massachusetts.

After having just left his position as foreman with a local building contractor, Richard had visions of creating his own custom cabinetry business. With little more than a pickup full of tools and his entrepreneurial spirit, he began by working out of his own basement on Brookline Street.

In 1979, his son Scott graduated from high school and joined his father in the then thriving business, and in 1980 set up a small shop in a downtown Groton, Massachusetts location.

Richard retired in 1997 and Scott inherited the company, moving to a larger and more modern location in Shirley, Massachusetts in the year 2000. Vance Cabinet & Carpentry has now been located at Phoenix Park in Shirley for the past 9 years with continued success.

Although custom cabinetry is our main area of concentration, Vance Cabinetry also offers services in finish carpentry, stair building, kitchen & bath remodeling, furniture, custom closets, bars and wine racks, hardwood mouldings and finished basements.
